At CONISTON HALL we are committed to maintaining the security and privacy of the personal data of those who apply, live, volunteer, work, support and participate in Coniston Hall activities.  We appreciate and value how important privacy is to you and therefore we are committed to respecting and protecting your personal details.

As part of respecting your rights to control your personal data, we will endeavour to ensure that any information you submit to us remains private and is only used for the aims and objects of this hall of residence.
Who we are?

Coniston Hall is a student hall of residence which is owned by ASHLEY EDUCATIONAL TRUST, an educational charity registered by the Charities Commission of England and Wales (Charity no. 277256).

We provide accommodation for students and organise volunteering and cultural activities for students and friends to attend and contribute to the local community.

We are fully committed to following the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines for the use of any personal information given to us.

This privacy statement outlines how we may use any personally identifiable data about you and the way we protect the data we collect.

Personal data we collect

We collect, store and use some personal data from the application form (name, email address and contact number, dietary requirements, religion, marital status, hobbies).

You may provide us with some data for the purpose of processing your application for a place in the form of emails and notifications.

If you join one of our volunteering projects we may collect extra information about you such as references, DBS checks, emergency contacts or medical conditions.

How we use your personal data

Personal data sent to us will be used for the purposes specified in the privacy policy. We may use your data to:

Send you email notifications about the ongoing process of admission to the Hall of Residence or communications while you live in the Hall. This information will be stored by us if you accept the place offered you in the Hall. It will remain on our database securely for as long as it is legally required.

We will give you the option of receiving the newsletter prepared by the Hall which is sent out yearly.



Coniston Committee will have access to your data, but care will be taken to prevent any unauthorised access to your personal data, by other parties.

In addition, we may disclose personal data to the extent that we are required to do so by law (in the case of fraud, etc..)
